Putting someting for way too long.........

Hello Dear Readers,

I know that I have neglected my duties in informing you about the current experiences I am having with my MDG project. I guess with all the others thing happening, they have been put off in the back burner. Well here they are...

Thoughts on my 1st Social Studies Presentation...

So, about two weeks ago, I presented the first of many presentations we have to do for our Social Studies class. As you all know, I picked South Africa because of the course the nation is taking towards equality, industrialization and its key importance in the global economy. So to get ready for the first part of the project, I had to go to the expert: a former substitute teacher of mine. I won't reveal his name but I would rather refer to him as Mr.He. Mr. He helped me better understand the history and current struggles of South Africa through his personal experiences and correspondences. To do this, he took time out of his personal affairs and met me in a local mall for coffee. We chit-chatted and I got to pick his brain for two hours. It was absolutely brilliant to hear first-hand accounts of what life was in Apartheid-South Africa and the jokes didn't hurt either (not about Apartheid). We also spent a huge amount of time discussing the nation's history, from the Portuguese to Mandela. Now to showcase to you how a gem this man was, he kindly offered to come to my school, which was like in the other part of town and speak to the class (without me asking). I politely declined because of time constraints (there was a max. of 10 mins. for the present.) but he offered his services again if I have further questions or concerns.

The presentation went terrific and I got a decent mark. I stuttered a bit and people laughed at me for "having" (<--- I can't think of a better word) a Freudian slip.  I guess from this experience I deduce that this project (MDGs) is a very complicated matter. On one hand, its kinda fun becoming an "Active Citizen" and receiving instructions that are more mature and helps a student grow. While on a different hand, it is difficult to be unique and have something other students don't, cause in this course everything has been thought off. You have to think critically and diversely and put that into action to fully comprehend this course.

Pursuit of Excellence......

So for the English portion of the project, everything is in a standstill. I am hoping that in the following weekend I would be able to sort out this debacle. Seriously, this is the part of my studies that I have been putting off (not because I don't like it). The book 28 that I was supposed to read, I have in my possession but can't find the time to read. The organization I was supposed to volunteer in won't take me as a volunteer. I don't know why this is the case. But there is a silver lining, my friends and I have combined our efforts in our quest to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS, malaria and child mortality. I hope this paragraph doesn't sound like a rant because this is all I "have" so far, which is quite meager and inexcusable. Don't worry dear Reader, things won't definitely fall apart.

(Touching video...)

Until next time,
MDGProject......
